January 2012- The New Year always comes with such excitement, anticipation, and reflection. I love to look back at the end of the year and think back to what my expectations were for the year, what actually happened, the things that surprised me,
the good, the bad, and everything in between. I am always amazed at those unexpected places that God met me most clearly, those places in which I can look back now and see God working, in what at times seems a bit strange. I also greatly anticipate the New Year and what it may hold. In what ways did God surprise you last year? Many people set New Year’s resolutions, some short term and some longer term, the process of setting goals for me is always an interesting one as I never quite know what to expect for the year and those places when life will just not happen as I anticipate. As I set my goals for the New Year I trust and continue to try to understand what God is up to in the world and where God is leading me to live in love and service for the world around me. What goals do you have for the New Year, how are you hoping to love and serve those around you? It is because God’s first loves us that we are able to respond in love to the world around us.
