THE BELC ENDOWNMENT FUND:
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE FUND?
To receive financial gifts, either lifetime or by will, from members and friends of the congregation to build principal in order that the income from the fund might be used for:
Missions at home and abroad
For outreach into the community
For scholarships or grants
For special programs not ordinarily included in the budget of the congregation
And generally to advance and support the causes of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and the work of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
WHAT IS A PLANNED GIFT?
A planned gift is an intentional gift of money or other value directed to a charity during one's lifetime or given upon the death of the donor.
HOW SHOULD MY GIFT BE DESIGNATED?
Simply specify that you desire the gift to be given to the "Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brainerd, Minnesota Endowment Fund."
WHAT ARE SOME EXAMPLES OF GIFTS?
There are several ways*:
By will
Through a trust
A life insurance policy
Real estate, including the new transfer on death deed, which is revocable
Donation of stock or bonds
IRA's and many other means

CAN A PLANNED GIFT BE UTILIZED IN RETIREMENT AND ESTATE PLANNING?
Yes. There are various ways that a planned gift offers advantages to the donor in terms of retirement and estate planning. We encourage you to talk with your tax accountant or an attorney for more specific information.
MAY I GIVE A GIFT AS A MEMORIAL?
Yes. Indentify the person/persons or family to be memorialized on the BELC Endowment Fund Gift Form.
ARE PLANNED GIFTS TO THE BELC ENDOWMENT FUND TAX DEDUCTIBLE?
Yes, as a general rule. Please consult your tax advisor or legal consultant for specific questions relating to charitable contributions.
